Job Description

Job Summary & Essential Functions:  

Oversee and supervise the facility accounting functions. Oversee the completion of ledger accounts and financial statements. Perform financial analyses and present findings and recommendations to management.

  • Ensure all facility staff are trained properly and adhere to accounting policies and procedures

  • Periodically review procedures for proper compliance and function

  • Perform monthly close, including all reconciliation and review activities

  • Ensure all  financial deadlines for Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Payroll, Month End Closing, Internal and External Audit Requests, and Fixed Assets are met

  • Prepare journal entries to record accruals and inventory

  • Prepare account reconciliations

  • Ensure all journal entries and account reconciliations have appropriate back-up

  • Calculate or review all accruals for accuracy

  • Ensure that all accruals have appropriate back-up

  • Responsible for the performance and review of cost to complete calculations, including compliance with related SOX controls over cost of goods sold reviews, and cost of inventory at month end close.

  • Ensure Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) internal controls are followed correctly. Coordinate SOX and financial audit testing at the facility.

  • Ensure that tests are performed timely, accurately documented and exceptions are resolved by adjusting procedures to ensure future compliance

  • Alert plant management and accounting staff of critical issues or weaknesses

  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.

  • Perform other assignments as required

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.

    • Minimum 5-7 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing facility or corporate environment 

    • Prior controller experience

    • Government accounting experience preferred for CAS locations

      Licenses, Certifications, etc.:

  • CPA/CMA preferred

  • Proven analytical abilities, including strong accounting/financial, budgeting, business planning, and forecasting skills, with solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Self-starter capable of interacting closely with production, bidding, materials, and customer service as well as the ability to quickly identify and solve complex problems.

  • Ability to develop and deliver clear and convincing presentations to senior management, peers, and co-workers.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills to interact with people at all levels and functions inside and outside Ducommun

  • Ability to work with a large volume of detail producing accurate results within aggressive deadlines

  • Advanced level of computer skills in e-mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access

  •  Proficient MRP/ERP system skills

  • Creative and innovative approach to problem resolution

  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and capabilities

  • Negotiation and conflict management skills

  • Leadership skills—people management, meeting facilitation, and customer support

  • Exceptional organization skills are required with emphasis on attention to details

  • Ability to multitask efficiently and adapt within a rapidly changing environment

  • Working knowledge of CAS and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
