CNC Machinist - 2nd Shift
Job Description
Job Summary: The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position.
This position is responsible for setting up and operating the CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) Multi-Axis machines, Vertical/Gantry/Horizontal rotary (4th) axis mills, CC Lathes/Routers and/or 5 axis Core mills.

Fully qualified in the operation of 3 and 4 Axis CNC milling machines, manual machining/honing/grinding equipment, for production/fabrication of precision machine parts
Sets up machines, adjusts, verifies part conformity to blue print/specification and operates machines to perform a series of progressive machining operations to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring considerable skill and knowledge of machining techniques and methods
Capable of independently selecting proper tools for set up and operation of Multi-Axis CNC equipment and a variety of manual/automatic machines
When qualified by experience to operate 4th Axis Horizontal/Gantry milling equipment, may operate 5 axis core mills with assistance and guidance from area leads
When qualified by experience to operate 5 axis core mills, may operate 4-axis horizontal’s or CNC lathes with assistance and guidance from area leads
Sets up all tools, performs related bench work and verifies part conformity using precision measuring equipment as required
Set up machines with furnished jigs and fixtures to machine production parts
May operate multiple machines
Performs SPC (Statistical Process Control) charting as required
Assists area leads in process debug, providing potential solutions to common machining problems
Provides input to area lead/supervisor regarding processes that are not capable for either quality or production effectiveness
Reads/follows shop order/planning instructions, maintains material traceability and performs written entries into shop orders, as required by planning and company procedures
Records entries into Machine Event Logs, reflecting actions taken during machining operations, or providing information for following shifts
Will transact operation movements in CinCom for jobs worked/completed

Efficient use of CNC Multi-Axis machines, CNC Lathes/Routers and/or 5 axis Core mills
Demonstrated use of manual machining/honing/grinding equipment
Capable of independently selecting proper tools for set up and operation of Multi-Axis CNC equipment and a variety of manual/automatic machines
Proficient ability to read/understand blue print/specifications
