Job Description

The Controller will play a key ‘team role’ and operate from a broad business perspective as well as being the source of expert financial input and advice to the operations and the broader leadership team.  In this role, the incumbent will manage, direct, organize, and control the financial activity of the business.  Provides guidance, analysis and assesses the historical and anticipated financial condition of the business and recommends to the Director of Operations and leadership team various courses of action to optimize operating results.  Establishes and monitors the controls necessary to protect the Corporation’s assets and maximize the return on investment.  Ensures the fiduciary responsibility per Sarbanes Oxley and compliance to Ducommun Corporate Policies and GAAP.

Essential Functions:

Assist Director of Operations in the preparation and review of budgets, financial planning, financial systems, and various financial operating reports. Strong emphasis on extensive use of financial modeling.
Provides concise interpretation of operating and financial results and issues for review by the Director of Operations and leadership of the operation
Provides oversight and analysis in interpreting financial trends through performance metrics, measurements and data in order to advise and direct decision making which lead to accurate assumptions and profitable scenarios
Prepares timely and comprehensive reports including analysis of financial data, statements, audits and the like covering sales, earnings, profits, cash balances, and other financial results
Prepares accurate rolling forecasts, use of financial modeling and probability analysis of the business to provide timely courses of action to maximize profitability.
Oversees the ROI and capital investment for the operation
Manage the day-to-day responsibility of the accounting department and monthly accounting closing process
Provides training and coaching to the staff and the development of critical skills to manage the business

Experience/Training/Education/Certification:
BS degree in Accounting/Finance, MBA and or CPA preferred
5 plus years related experience as an operations Controller
Experienced with forecasting of business plans and different forecasting models
Experienced in implementing cost based financial systems, financial modeling to support budgetary, strategic planning, cost/pricing exercises in a manufacturing environment
Support bids and proposal by Prepare current and future cost estimates as well as rate structure simulation
Review contracts to ensure they are in alignment with current accounting policies, with a focus on Revenue recognition and Cost matching
Knowledgeable of Sarbanes Oxley requirements and processes
Travel to other locations to oversee accounting activities
Support other projects as required

Knowledge/Abilities/Skills/Tools:
Excellent computer skills, Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (i.e. excel spreadsheets, data bases, etc.)
Excellent cross-functional communication skills, team player qualities and ability to influence change across multi disciplines
Able to work in an matrix environment and support cross functional team based management
