Job Description

Job Summary & Essential Functions: Responsible for support of all quotation activities within the company.  As this position contributes significantly to our companies financials a high level of detail is required to review and confirm all Requests For Quotes (RFQs) requirements are in accordance with company policy and legal guidance.  The estimator will ensure RFQs meet all specifications, drawings, verbal instructions, customer material, and labor requirements. In addition, the estimator ensures the quote is provided at the appropriate timing and price in order for the company to ensure continuous manufacturing is maintained as well as provide additional revenue that provides growth for the company.

Essential Functions % of Time
Reviews new requests for quote and logs into quote database
Completes follow-on and other lower level quotes as well as quote revisions
Develops cost reports from ERP system
Solicits outside quotes from Supply Chain for any required supplier pricing
Develops and submits quote package to customers
Input labor and material into cost breakdown and ensure accuracy through continuous alignment with cost accounting
Performs all required updates to quote database after quote package is complete
Develops data for and maintains Estimating departmental metrics
Develops and submits documents for Corporate Approval of quote offers 75%
Helps the Estimating team maintain an auditable estimating process
Maintains and updates standard work procedures and documentation for department
Proactively identifies and implements new tools and process improvements to address changing business needs
Helps create and oversee quoting spreadsheet and database development
Represent Estimating in continuous improvement initiatives/events 20%
Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
Performs other duties as assigned including leading projects and participation in project committees 5%

Skills & Qualifications

Computer knowledge and skills, i.e.MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint & Access
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and CAD
Experience in Enovia, Catia or other CAD software preferred
3-5 years of aerospace manufacturing experience preferred
Pleasant personality, must interact with all levels of personnel, vendors, customers and public
Conscientious, organized and meticulous, records must be accurate and properly maintained
Read and understand internal procedures and policies
Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions
Team-oriented with a continuous improvement outlook
Able to learn new applications, reports, functions and simple software programs with little assistance
