Job Description

Job Summary & Essential Functions:  The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position.  Is Responsible for managing facility maintenance activities of the facility and grounds.  The position has a high financial impact to the company.  The agent must be able to analyze and react to safety and maintenance issues in order to support manufacturing and help provide a safe work environment.

  • Assign maintenance team to ensure safe efficient coverage of operational and facility requirements.

  • Direct, maintain, and enforce the safety program for the division; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance technicians.

  • Review and modify procedures of maintenance staff as required.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain definitive preventive maintenance plans.

  • Purchase and stock critical replacement components required to insure optimum up-time of operational equipment.

  • Maintain grounds and common areas to reflect positive professional image.

  • Contribute to the teamwork necessary to continuously improve other processes.

  • Develop and maintain visual management tools to drive Continuous Improvement of the Facility Maintenance department.

  • Support plant level Goal Deployment actions and programs.

  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment to ensure proper function and safe operation.

  • Establish and maintains a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, spare pars, and maintenance history of plant equipment.

  • Track, analyze and improve key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc.

  • Knowledge of policy and procedures in the event of a Hazardous waste release, fire or explosion.

  • Knowledge of the chemical characteristics and location of hazardous waste in the facility.

  • Ability to shut down operations.

  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Computer knowledge and skills, i.e. MS Word and Excel.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Must be able to professionally interact with all levels of personnel, vendors, customers, and public.

  • Conscientious, organized, and meticulous – records must be accurate and maintained.

  • Read and understand internal procedures and policies.

  • Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions.

  • Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.

  • Basic Computer Skills: Able to learn new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance.

     

    Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the outlined experience level, education, training, minimum years of experience, product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to be considered.

  • One year certificate from college or technical school: up to 5  years related experience in job function and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ten years of mechanical experience.

  • Computer knowledge and skills, i.e. MS Word and Excel.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

                                                                                                                                                           

Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. 

  • Knowledge of policy and procedures in the event of a Hazardous waste release, fire or explosion.

  • Knowledge of the chemical characteristics and location of hazardous waste in the facility.

  • Ability to shut down operations.

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; or crouch.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively.

  • May frequently lift and/or move from 1 – 50 pounds.

  • Working conditions are:  20% office environment, 80% manufacturing environment.

  • Noise level is moderate in office environment and moderate to loud in manufacturing environment.

  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.

  • Occasionally works in high precarious places and in outside weather conditions.

  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

  • Hearing protection must be worn in designated manufacturing areas.

  • Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas.

  • Safety Footwear shall be in accordance with the following: ASTM standard F2413-05 with minimum impact resistance, compression resistance and metatarsal designation ratings of 75 foot pounds (i.e. ASTM F2413-05 I/75 C/75 Mt/75), which are viewable on the inside tag of footwear.
