Job Description

We are looking for a skilled, energetic general maintenance technician! 

As a general maintenance technician at Ducommun, you play a mission critical role. Our maintenance technicians perform a variety of duties to support the Huntsville Performance Center. If you love variety and want your hard work to matter, this is the job for you!

The work that you do is critical in supporting our team's ability to operate safely, effectively and efficiently. You will be supporting the common Ducommun goals of making our customers happy or happier while increasing profitability and growth.

Our general maintenance technicians are truly a jack-of-all trades! They install electrical controls, power circuits, services, light fixtures, etc. (10% of time). Install water lines, air lines, drain lines, etc. (10% of time).  Repair any breaks and maintain all plumbing facilities and equipment (10% of time).  Build partitions, platforms, frames, etc., often without the aid of blueprints (10% of time). Perform miscellaneous building repairs (15% of time). Perform painting and plastering duties (5% of time). Drive various motorized lifts and move materials and supplies throughout the plant (15% of time). Pick-up and deliver items, orders, and materials to outside suppliers as indicated on trip request or by verbal directions from supervisor (5% of time). Maintain company vehicle in proper operating condition. Check and maintain proper fluid levels. Keep vehicle current with State inspection requirements ( 5% of time). Handle hazardous waste, which may include labeling and transferring to central storage area (10% of time).  Satisfactorily complete initial and annual hazardous waste training to ensure compliance (2% of time). Perform other assignments as needed (3% of time).

Skills & Qualifications

The specific skills and abilities required for the position are as follows:

Ability to diagnose equipment problems/mechanical aptitude
Ability to diagnose problems with the operation’s electrical and plumbing
Knowledge of various maintenance trades
Ability to use multiple hand tools
Willingness to perform janitorial duties
Available for 24-hour emergency call-in

Other requirements:
Ability to successfully complete a background screening and drug screening.
Must be a US Person (citizen or permanent resident) due to ITAR requirements in the facility.
