Manufacturing Engineer Internship

Position requires aiding engineers in the design and development of production/ test tooling, work instruction, production router/ traveler for performing in-process and final product.  

Founded in 1849, Ducommun is the oldest company in California. Starting as a hardware supply store during the California Gold Rush and eventually assisted in the birth of the aerospace industry in Southern California by providing aircraft aluminum to early aerospace pioneers like Lindbergh, Douglas and Lockheed.

We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications. 

Our Facility in Carson, CA is our Engineered Products Group location, which houses our Human Machine Interface, Motion Control Device, Radiofrequency Departments. 

Job Summary

  • Responsible for New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustaining activities in the manufacturing.
  • Creates and assembles varies of PCB assembly, winding, cables, and fixtures required for testing.
  • Diagnose malfunctions or production problems on the basis of test results.
  • Assembly work, test set up and documentation (DWGs, ATP, Routers.), other tasks which require special care in handling or other procedures which require good dexterity and facility in use of a variety of hand tools/ equipment.
  • May set up or devise test procedures/ process workflow.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Upper-level University student studying Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Programming experience in SolidWorks, AutoCAD or LabVIEW experience desired.
  • Basic circuit analysis and knowledge of electronics safety precautions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer usage and knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Required Experience and Education

  • Candidate must be currently pursuing/ working toward a BS degree in EE or ME or related technical field(s) from an accredited College or University.
