Master Scheduler

The Demand Planner provides Manufacturing Operations, Sales, Purchasing, and Finance with a plan that maximizes efficiency, resources, and capacity. Works with managers to determine long- term planning/scheduling solutions for production to create a consistent and efficient workflow. Uses our MRP system to create and manage the reporting structure to Operations, Sales, Purchasing and Finance. Provides the business with a proper analytical data of current situation as well as forecasted production opportunities. In addition, the Demand Planner typically reports to a manager and contributes to complex problem solving of business growth and capacity.

Essential Functions


•         Responsible for maintaining a master schedule, reviewing expedited requests and assisting in the daily production schedules along with driving adherence to the appropriate planning horizons. Typically schedules for facilities with up to 30M in annual revenue with 1-2 primary shifts of operation.


•         Develops and/or maintains the plant(s) capacity model inputs and outputs by routinely updating routings and requirements estimates based on demonstrated output standards and estimates of new capacity conditions.


•         Ensures capacity is level loaded based on available capacity to optimally cover demand; includes the coordination of all new product introductions, end of life close-outs, and plant(s) labor schedule.


•         Coordinates the work and provides direction to the Production Schedulers.


•         Develops metrics to measure manufacturing performance to schedules (lead time, schedule attainment, and schedule adherence) and works with Manufacturing to resolve issues in a timely manner.


•         Provides inventory projections and proactively identifies service level issues.  Translates data and analysis into succinct actions, impacts and recommendations.


•         Coaches, counsels and provides support to Production Schedulers as needed.


•         Conducts various gap and post mortem analyses between actual and forecasts, identifying key drivers for discussion in a future state S&OP demand consensus agenda.


•         Conducts various gap and post mortem analyses between schedules and actuals, identifying key drivers for discussion in a future state S&OP Supply consensus agenda.


•         Focus on continuous improvement within scope of responsibilities for developing, improving, and implementing sound materials management practices.


•         Conducts various gap and post mortem analyses between actual and forecasts, identifying key drivers for discussion in a future state S&OP demand consensus agenda.


•         Conducts various gap and post mortem analyses between schedules and actuals, identifying key drivers for discussion in a future state S&OP Supply consensus agenda.

•         Strong understanding of and experience with demand management principals and processes coupled with end-to-end supply chain operational processes.


•         Experience introducing/working with supply chain solutions, software and systems is beneficial.


•         Hands on experience with ERP systems.


•         Strong working knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles.


•         Ability to lead, motivate and direct those on their team and provide direction, coaching and support as needed.


•         Experience with leading a team and handling associated administrative responsibilities such as performance reviews, disciplinary action, etc.


•         Ability to work in a team oriented environment that is fast paced and demanding.


•         Demonstrated ability to influence in cross-functional situations.


•         Keen analytical skills, advanced Excel


•         Strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy.


•         Track record of developing and implementing change which positively impacts company performance.

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the outlined experience level, education, training, minimum years of experience, product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to be considered.  List in bullet fashion what they must possess.  

§   Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain operations, materials management, logistics or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

§   Minimum of 1 years of ERP/MRP experience

§   Minimum 3+ years of proven Supply Chain and planning experience in a similar role.

Depending on the candidate’s skills, qualifications and experience, they will be hired into an entry (I) level, intermediate (II) level or expert (III) level job and pay scale.
