MBE (CAD/CAM) Supervisor
Job Description
Job Summary & Essential Functions:
Supervise, coordinate, facilitate, and provide leadership to the MBE (CADD/CAM) team. Outline work procedures and assign duties to meet departmental and company requirements.
• Manage department employees to ensure maximum use of capacity efficiency while promoting quality and safety.
•Serve as technical resource for less experienced drafters and machinists.
•Train, advise, and mentor employees on work processes and procedures, as well as, company policies.
•Prepare CAD models/drawings as needed to ensure lead times are met.
•Assist in preparation of quotes for internal and external customers as needed.
•Stay updated on CAD/CAM software and technologies.
•Evaluate tool needs, external versus internal costs, time, capability and capacity for make/buy decisions.
•Support tool delivery to production via internal/external 3D printing and/or machining.
•Develop and maintain best practices for design of all types of custom tooling.
•Review drawings and tools for accuracy to customer requirements and internal standards.
•Ensure proper tooling and equipment is available for the team to perform efficiently.
•Ensure projects and assignments remain consistent with company practices, policies, and regulations.
•Support internal and external customers; set standards that promote good relations and communication.
•Research and troubleshoot problems; take corrective actions to allow continuous improvement.
•Promote the concept of individual responsibility for quality work and workmanship standards.
•Track and monitor departmental performance objectives.
•Participate in periodic audits to ensure compliance to company standards.
•Participate in recruiting, selection and development of all department personnel through maintaining discipline and personnel relations and interviewing screened applicants.
•Perform other assignments as required.

•CAD skills – fluent in 3D CAD software with experience in tooling and fixturing design (NX, CREO, CTIA, Inventor, Solid Works)
•CAM skills – knowledge in CAM software and operating manual and CNC equipment (Mastercam)
•Project Management -- Able to handle multiple tasks, have good prioritization and organizational skills, effective time management
•Able to problem solve, work with a high level of accuracy and with attention to detail
•Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and project company image to attract business
•Computer skills – intermediate knowledge of e-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Internet Explorer

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in related technical field
• Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
• Minimum of 5 years experience working with 3D CAD
• Manual and CNC Machining experience preferred
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
Licenses, Certifications, etc.:
• Certifications in profession preferred
Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required:
• Moderate noise levels
• Exposure to light manufacturing environment
• Required to wear PPE as needed
• Required overnight travel - up to five days at a time
