Job Description

Job functions include creating N/C programs for various 3 & 5-axis machines in Ducommun’s machine shop. Programs are developed from customer engineering drawings/models per our internal procedures to machine various part configurations needed to support our customers. The programmer also develops CAD models and drawings to assist manufacturing personnel and creates tool designs for internally fabricated tooling.

Founded in 1849, Ducommun is the oldest company in California. Starting as a hardware supply store during the California Gold Rush and eventually assisted in the birth of the aerospace industry in Southern California by providing aircraft aluminum to early aerospace pioneers like Lindbergh, Douglas, and Lockheed.

Our facility in Gardena is a leading global supplier of large stretch formed aircraft skins, hot forming of titanium, superplastic forming and complex fastened and welded assemblies.

1. Create N/C Programs from customer-furnished data sets, blueprints, or sketches.
2. Build needed 3D geometries for N/C tool paths.
3. Support N/C machine operators.
4. Create set up books, N/C instructions for NC machining.
5. Support inspection department when required.
6. Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
7. Performs other duties as assigned including leading projects and participation in project committees.


Skills & Qualifications

1. Formal Catia training required with Catia experience a must.
2. Unigraphics training and experience a plus.

Experience/Training/Education/Certification: To perform this job successfully, an individual
must possess the outlined experience level, education, training and certifications in order to be
considered.
1. Experience with N/C machining, machine codes, cutting tools, feed and speed.
2. Minimum 5 years' experience in N/C Programming in the aerospace industry with strong 3 & 5
Axis background.
