NPI Project Manager

The ideal candidate will drive the planning and execution of product development projects for rugged, high reliability applications in the aerospace, defense, and oil & gas industries.  Our diverse product lines include Human-Machine Interface (HMI) components and assemblies; high performance electric motors, resolvers, and actuators; and radio frequency (RF) electromechanical switch assemblies.  The successful candidate will be a key leader in the Engineering team responsible for delivering new products through our Stage Gate process from initial concept into Production.

Our Facility in Carson, CA is our Engineered Products Group location, which houses our Human Machine Interface, Motion Control Device, Radiofrequency Departments.

Job Summary

This multi-faceted role includes direct customer communication along with leadership of cross-functional teams.  The successful candidate will be detailed-oriented and able to manage communications amongst parties to ensure successful execution of NPI projects.

Lead the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring/control, and closure of New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
Work closely with Business Development to qualify new leads and capture essential customer requirements.  Maintain close contact with customers throughout project execution to drive customer satisfaction.
Partner with Design Engineering to develop project schedules, cost estimates, and compliance matrices.  Continuously evaluate project risks and develop mitigation plans.
Prepare material for and lead project meetings including Stage Gate reviews and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs).
Collaborate with Supply Chain, Production, and Quality to ensure schedule accuracy and to drive project progress.
Maintain weekly project progress reporting.
Perform other assignments as required.

Skills & Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Excellent verbal and interactive communication skills with all levels of employees and management.
Utilize project management and leadership skills to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a timely and efficient manner.
Ability to write technical reports and proposals and make technical presentations to customers.
Negotiation/conflict management skills; demonstrated experience troubleshooting and problem-solving with root cause analysis.
Proficiency in email, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software packages.


Project engineering experience and demonstrated project management skills
Demonstrated drive to meet objectives and proficiency in solving problems in a timely manner
Ability to juggle simultaneous, competing priorities
Experience leading risk management and root cause analysis
Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated communication skills, including written and oral presentations in the form of design reviews or proposal presentations in front of customers

Skills & Qualifications

Experience/Training/Education/Certification:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the outlined experience level, education, training, and certifications to be considered.
Bachelors degree or advanced degree, preferably in an engineering field.
Minimum two years of experience leading cross-functional engineering projects.
Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification a plus.
Aerospace or defense industry experience is preferred.
