Penetrant Inspector

Job Description

Sprays, brushes, or dips part in liquid penetrant.
 Allows penetrant to dwell on parts for specified period of time.
 Performs penetrant final rinse with water spray.
 Loads parts on conveyor that carries them through the pre-developer dryer for specified time
period.
 Places parts in development tank for allotted time.
 Evaluates parts under UV light to detect minor surface cracks and/or indications of surface
imperfections or defects.
 Performs post penetrant cleaning of parts before forwarding on to next process/department.
 Other duties as assigned.


Skills & Qualifications

Ability to read and interpret customer specifications is a plus
 Ability to use measuring instruments including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, and
light meter.
 Awareness of calibration certification of equipment a plus
 Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane
 Must be able to comply with specific safety policies
 Read and understand internal procedures and policies
 Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions
 Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook
 Basic Computer Skills - able to learn new screens, reports, functions and simple software
programs with assistance

Experience/Training/Education/Certification: To perform this job successfully, an individual
must posses the outlined experience level, education, training and certifications in order to be
considered.
 High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
 Requires level II training

 Annual eye exam is required.
 Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or
controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
 Frequently required to stoop, kneel, or crouch and talk or hear.
 Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
 Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required: The work environment characteristics

equipment as required for the position.
 Working conditions are: 100% manufacturing environment.
 Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or
caustic chemicals.
 Noise level is usually moderate.
 Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas.
 Hearing protection must be worn in designated areas.
 Fully enclosed shoes, leather construction, must be worn.
