Process Engineer
Ducommun is a global provider of innovative manufacturing solutions for the Aerospace & Defense industry. At our Berryville Performance Center, we're seeking a Process Engineer to help us build mission-critical electronic components for military & defense programs that keep our country safe.
The Process Engineer will be critical in providing individual support for engineering directions (working with program engineers for response), dispositioning rework instructions, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, and monitoring/owning implementation of build fixtures and validating tools to enhance product turns and first time yields.
Job Summary & Essential Functions:
Provide process engineering for facility.
• Provide engineering technical support and design input for projects
• Assist with conception, development and implementation of manufacturing processes
• Technically document procedures and processes
• Collaborate with purchasing, production, quality, contract management, and outside vendors to set and meet schedules and accommodate other customer requirements
• Conduct root cause analysis and propose corrective actions for continuous improvement and for resolutions to manufacturing problems including processes, machines or programming problems
• Assist with the development of new, automated processes using available software
• Make capital equipment recommendations
• Adhere to General Requirements of Team Members
• Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
• Perform other assignments as required
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic manufacturing and assembly processes together with work measurement and work standards
• Proficient in technical writing, good documentation skills; attention to detail is critical
• Required: ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Prior experience with an ISO-9000 AS-9000 environment is a plus
• Demonstrated analytical expertise including ability to plan, resolve problems effectively and establish priorities
• Understanding of DOE, 6-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing desired
• Working knowledge at an intermediate level of computer skills in e-mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Microsoft Project
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and project company image to attract business
• Negotiation and conflict management skills together with demonstrated experience troubleshooting and problem-solving
• Flexible with high energy, able to handle multiple tasks smoothly

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications:
• 4 year technical: BSEE, BSEET, or BSME is preferred. An appropriate two-year degree may be considered
• 4-6 years experience in engineering functions consistent with the specific position requirements
