Job Summary & Essential Functions:  
The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Employees must meet all customer/company quality expectations and/or requirements in order to ensure product integrity.

This occupation requires the application of protective prime and finish coatings and/or mat finishes to parts, assemblies and sub-assemblies
made of plastic, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, using brush and spray-painting techniques and equipment.

Sets up, operates and maintains spray guns, pressure pots and oilier painting equipment. 

Determines correct preparation of surfaces to be' coated, to insure proper adhesion of the paint; determines from specifications, blueprints or work orders the type and color of primes, paint, protective coatings and/or solution required. 

Mixes and thins paint to proper consistency.

Applies protective prime and finish gloss coatings to interior and exterior of parts, subassemblies and assemblies, and works to close tolerances in the application of finished surface coats.

Locates, by use of customer specifications, blueprints and simple arithmetic, color break areas, decals and/or insignias and paints or mounts such items. 

Performs difficult rework, final touchup, feathering, shading and blending by the use of spray gun and brush.

May perform such work incident to work described above, such as touchup, patching,masking, puttying, sanding, priming, sealing and surfacing.

Required Skills & Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, qualifications, competencies, abilities and any physical demands if required. 

Completion of a union, military or trade school apprenticeship program that includes theory and on-the-job training.

To set up and operate various types and sizes of spray guns, pressure pots, conveyors, and other painting equipment to use references to obtain easily identified information, to use simple arithmetic, including decimals and fractions

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the outlined experience level, education, training, minimum years of experience, product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to be considered.  

Ability to speak effectively before groups of co-workers and management
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
Ability to read and write in English at a 12th grade level
Ability to perform basic math functions at a 12th grade level
Good attendance and a positive attitude with a team player approach
Four (4) years experience as a journey-level painter in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations setting, both interior and
exterior. Aerospace experience preferred.
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand to perform work. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift, push, pull or move up to thirty (30) pounds or more with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. Hearing protection must be worn in designated manufacturing areasFully enclosed shoesSafety glass required in all manufacturing areasOther Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
