Job Description

 Responsible for owning, maintaining, and revising all Quality Systems documents, to include but not limited to:  manuals, procedures, work instructions, forms, and exhibits.  Responsible for owning, organizing, maintaining and managing the internal audit system.  Administer the corrective action system for non-conformances identified during audits.  Lead activities required to obtain and retain necessary customer and agency certifications.  Works with a team of NTD Inspectors, Metrology techs, and Lab Technicians in supporting all manufacturing operations in order to achieve adherence to AS9100 and customer specifications. 

•         Maintain all Quality Management System documents to current status ensuring the content of all documents is correct.

•         Administer revisions to all documents when changes are required.

•         Ensure proper notification to the concerned staff when documents have been revised. 

•         When textual changes occur that add to, delete or revise the requirements of the procedure, coordinate with the document owner prior to issuing the revised copy.

•         Leads the Quality Systems Team to maintain all hard-copy manuals and electronic files and folders for the Quality Systems’ documentation.

•         Ensure calibration system is maintained and take action if not.

•         Ensure lab activities are completed per schedule and take action if not.

•         Own and manage a review system that provides for a yearly evaluation of all documents to the current content.

•         Perform gap analysis between internal procedures and Customer and/or Industry specifications to ensure compliance to requirements, and recommend changes, as necessary.

•         Review internally recommended changes to company procedures to ensure continuing compliance to customer and industry standard requirements.

•         Work with other departments on the development of new procedures as they become necessary.  Perform gap analysis between customer released drawings and internal drawing database and coordinate with engineering to create engineering review notifications as needed

•         Develop, implement and manage the schedule of audits for the company’s procedures.

•         Administer the documentation system for initiating an audit, for closing an audit and for notifying the process owners of the results of an audit.

•         Assist other departments in corrective action completion and, if necessary, in preparing appropriate responses.

•         Perform internal/external audits to verify compliance to requirements as well as conduct verification audits of completed corrective actions.

•         Submit corrective action responses to external organizations (such as customers and third party auditors) when required.

•         Prepare and submit pre-audit documentation to external auditors, as required.

•         Be a resource for training conducted throughout the company (i.e., procedures, customer requirements, Nadcap and ISO/AS requirements).

•         Train other employees in the requirements of the company’s Quality System requirements.

•         Create standard periodic performance metrics showing the status of production and quality, both company-wide and for specific departments.  Distribute reports to company management. The Quality Systems Engineer is responsible for chairing relevant meetings, assigning auditor team members specific audits and documenting the results.

•         Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.

•         Acceptable attendance is an essential function of the position.

 Skills & Qualifications:

•         Experience in NADCAP and AS9100 Auditing

•         Experience with metal bond, RTM, and chemical processing

•         Requires proficiency in the design and manipulation of spreadsheet data.  Excel preferred.

•         Must possess strong computer skills, i.e. MS Word, Excel, Access and Adobe.

•         Ability to manage numerous projects and meet deadlines as required.

•         Ability to work independently and a good memory for detail.

•         Must be able to interact and communicate professionally and effectively with levels of the organization, customers and suppliers.

•         Read and understand internal procedures and policies.

•         Must possess the ability to understand, follow through and implement actions from verbal and written instructions.

•         Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.

•         Able to learn and adapt to new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance.

•         Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

•         Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

•         Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

•         Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

•         Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

•         Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

•         Experience in the utilization of project management software strongly preferred.

•         Technical writing skills preferred.

•         Knowledge of aerospace company specifications and practices preferred.

•         Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication, machining, forming, and welding preferred.
