Job Description

Responsible for managing all aspects of the Ducommun’s RF Product lines testing needs.  This includes testing to commercial, military and Hi-Rel/Space standards.

  • Design and Build Flight Test Hardware: Block diagram to detailed electrical and mechanical design, all design documentation, drawings, and user manuals.
  • Procure Parts, and assemble or oversee assembly. Understand customer requirements and accordingly prepare test plans.
  • Design, Write and release software for RF test systems to meet
    both general test requirement and mission specific test systems in LabView
    and other programs.
  • Develop and/or maintain software tracking systems to
    ensure most current software is being utilized, working with cross-functional

    Ownership of Test Systems and Test Protocols: Develop test procedures and strategies to carry out all RF testing requirements.

  • Generate ‘how to’ and best practice guidelines for test technicians and other engineers using equipment, including calibration process and guidelines, preventative maintenance, TPM, etc.

  • Recommend new test techniques and technologies to ensure systems performance.

    Analyze and troubleshoot RF test equipment in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Work in compliance with company policies and standard test guidelines.

  • Mentor RF test technicians and conduct on-the-job training when required

    Prototype using provided test schematics

  • Contributes to new product development team.

  • Manages projects as assigned

  • With direction, ensures designs meet all cost, functional, manufacturing, reliability, regulatory, and environmental requirements.

  • Participates with Marketing, Production group and other engineering personnel during product conceptualization phases and throughout project.

  • Work with assigned vendors to develop cost effective designs

  • May initiate, lead, and participate in design reviews with other engineering and manufacturing personnel

  • Manage multiple projects.

  • Ensure designs meet all cost, functional, manufacturing, reliability, regulatory, and environmental requirements.

  • Works with cross-functional team members in a matrix environment, including Supply Chain, Quality, Configuration Management, etc.

Skills & Qualifications

  • BS Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with minimum 5 to 7 years experience in RF Test Systems/ architecture

  • Programming experience with LabView, Python, C++, Solidworks and other
    test languages

  • Able to develop, read and interpret documents schematics and block diagrams

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Must complete all assigned paper work as required

    Demonstrates creativity and ingenuity in applying engineering principles and practices

  • Able to draw solutions from a wider range of experience

  • Proficient at solving problems in a timely manner.
