Job Summary & Essential Functions

At various stages of the production process performs tests & provides necessary troubleshooting input to determine whether product meets specifications, performance, mechanical as applicable, or electrical characteristics. As a qualified Test Technician, technical knowledge & skills is the key of success; along with working with the test team & engineers for all prototyping, troubleshooting & special tests needs.

Essential Functions

• Set-up test stations as required. Set-up requires use of numerous electronic test equipment and mechanical gauging, reading precise measurements of electronic and dimensional data to the closest tolerance exercising a thorough knowledge of and ability to use such a wide variety of precision instruments.

• Perform mechanical and electrical assembly as required

• Tests involves understanding of engineering theory and interpretation of results

• Document hardware per required standards – such as traceability documentation

• Determine technical accuracy, operation, and proper sequencing of test procedures or devise test procedures for new or limited-production items

• Diagnose malfunctions or production problems on the basis of test results

• Perform trouble shooting and rework of complex items including RMA evaluations

• Perform material handling functions as needed

• May require use and travel of outside lab testing (Vibration)

• Perform other duties as required in equal or lower classification

Skills & Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Able to read and interpret documents such as blue prints.

  • Ability to operate numerous electronic test and mechanical gauging equipment such as, multimeters, power supplies, signal generator,  network analyzer, thermal cycle oven, and other equipment as required.

  • Ability to test sub-assemblies. Process & analyze the test data & prepare test reports.

  • Knowledge of basic electricity and electronics

  • Trouble shooting know how & knowledge base to discuss with assemblers & engineers. 

  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

  • Work effectively, efficiently and with minimal to no supervision
