Accounting Supervisor

Payroll Essential Functions:

Supervise the processing of payroll data. Ensure that computing, withholding, or deductions weekly, state, and local authorities, such as W-2s. Ensure payroll records are updated and provides reports.

  • Create and maintain reports to internal and external customers

  • Interact with managers to establish special schedules and processes for labor entry at plant level

  • Responsible for filing and remitting employee withholding, unemployment, various tax deposits to federal and state agencies

  • Reconcile and monitor payroll accounts in General ledger

  • Coordinate benefit and HR Timing to payroll processing

  • Responsible for internal housekeeping on Ceridian system, downloading and installing of tax updates, and co-coordinating software releases with IS department

  • Reporting and remitting 401(k) contributions to third party provider

  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.

  • Perform other assignments as required

Accounting Essential Functions:

Prepare financial statements, statistical reports; prepare analyses and other financial reports. Report organization's finances to management and offer suggestions about accounting matters.

  • Coordinate, complete, and resolve accounting transactions in accordance with company policy and in compliance with all requirements related to Sarbanes Oxley

  • Compute and prepare financial statements, statistical reports; prepare analyses and make recommendations resulting from the analyses

  • Prepare supporting documentation and journal entries as directed by the Controller

  • Prepare account reconciliations for general ledger accounts

  • Participate with the month end closing process for cash, AR, inventory, sales, and bookings

  • Coordinate accounting matters and participate in process development with other departments and locations

  • Maintain/monitor fixed asset acquisitions and capital expenditure data to ensure compliance.

  • Generate requests for ACH transfers

  • Adhere to General Requirements of Team Members

  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of payroll processing

  • Intermediate computer skills – Email, Word, Excel, Ceridian, Crystal Reports, WDS, Access Best FAS Encore, together with standard PC-based accounting packages.

  • Database experience such as SQL server is a strong plus

  • Independent, self-starter, solid team player

  • Ability to meet the public and interact in a manner that represents the company professionally

  • Skill in communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, with employees at all levels in the organization.

  • Detail oriented with attention to accuracy; organized

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks smoothly; flexibility to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices

  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing terminology used in accounting activities

  Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

    • Minimum 6-8 years progressively responsible experience in payroll

    • 2 to 4 years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
