Job Description

The custodian will be responsible for cleaning and maintenance of specified areas of the shop, restrooms, sinks, lunchroom, offices, and assist with minor maintenance tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Include the following.  Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Perform janitorial work and assist with general building maintenance.

  • Adhere to General Requirements of Team Members

  • Empty trash containers

  • Vacuum all offices, receptionist area, and hallways

  • Dust all offices as needed

  • Wash windows inside and outside in entry area

  • Sweep and mop floors, including periodic floor maintenance

  • Assist with snow removal and ice protection

  • Exterior cleaning of grounds

  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.

  • Clean and wash surfaces, including restrooms, kitchen and break areas

  • Janitorial personnel will be assigned a set of regular cleaning tasks that may overlap the 5S Cleaning Programs in some areas.  These tasks will focus on shared areas, water services, restrooms, main walkways and\or as assigned by shop management.

  • Sanitizing of all common area high touch areas will be done on a daily basis as a minimum to include but not limited to:

    • Restrooms

    • Door knobs

    • Vending machines

    • Hand rails of stairs

    • Counters - dividers

    • Microwave machines

    • Refrigerator exterior handles and touch areas

    • Coffee makers and dispensers

    • Drinking water dispensers

    • Sinks

    • Computers – keyboards, mice, printers

    • Copy machines (FAX, scanners, etc.)

    • Desks, tables, and chairs

  • Perform minor maintenance assistance as required

  • Perform housekeeping duties as outlined by the Housekeeping Procedure

  • Perform other assignments as required

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or GED with three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
