HR Shared Services Generalist
Job Description
The Human Resources Shared Services Generalist is a newly created role within Ducommun's Human Resources Shared Services team . Our shared services team is responsible for HR technology, benefits, compensation, training, compliance, payroll, and stock plan administration. The HR Shared Services Generalist will serve a dual role in supporting the HR shared services team with day to day customer service and supporting Ducommun's corporate office with basic HR responsibilities.
HR Shared Services Support (60%)
Responsible for a broad range of daily HR shared services operations including, but not limited to:
- Daily management of our HR service center email box including responding to questions, prioritizing requests, and dispatching or escalating issues where needed.
- HR and employee assistance with multi-system HR technology including data entry guidance, data audits and corrections, password resets, deactivations, basic system configurations, testing, and project support.
- Supported systems include HR Information System (ADP), Time & Attendance System (Kronos), Performance Management System (Saba), Applicant Tracking System (Cornerstone), Learning Management System (Cornerstone), Onboarding platform (Cornerstone), and Recognition portal (OC Tanner).
- HR assistance with general benefits inquiries, issues, approvals, and troubleshooting.
- Responsible for reconciling and processing HR Shared Services invoices. Ensures payments are made timely. Follows up on pending payments. Maintains payment records.
- Responsible for creating standard work and training end users on HR shared services processes, procedures, and systems.
Corporate HR Generalist Support (40%)
Responsible for basic HR support for corporate and shared services employees, including but not limited to:
- Carries out recruiting processes such as scheduling of interviews, follow-ups, maintenance of applicant tracking system, keeping managers updated, etc.
- Administers onboarding activities including new hire orientation, collection of paperwork, and pre-employment screenings.
- Administers off-boarding activities including exit interviews, user change requests, and collection of company property.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate and up to date personnel files and electronic records, including data entry as required.
- Facilitate internal communication and collaboration regarding basic HR policies and procedures.
- Assists employees and managers with routine HR questions and employee relation issues.
- Responds to inquiries from third party vendors such as disability, unemployment, leave of absence, etc.
- Coordinates leaves of absences, tracking of time off, and other related functions.
- Proactively support safety concerns and issues through collaboration with EH&S and operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of HR processes including recruiting, onboarding, organizational development, performance management, and benefits.
- Basic understanding of HR systems including design, structure, functions and processes.
- Expert knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience with an HRMS such as PeopleSoft, Lawson or ADP Enterprise- ADP Preferred.
- Experience with a time & attendance system, Kronos preferred.
- Effective organizational and interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication skills, training, and presenting.
- Previous exposure to project-related activities through participation in system-related project and implementations.
- Strong work ethic with ability to think independently.
- Attention to detail and respect for processes.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college in business or a related area or equivalent years of relative industry experience.
- 2-3 years of professional experience in the HR field or a related area.
