Job Description

Job Summary & Essential Functions:  The IT Systems Technician provides Information Technology support to various manufacturing sites and / or offices within a geographical area.  The support responsibilities include hardware, software, account management and data backups.

Required Skills & Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, qualifications, competencies, abilities and any physical demands if required. 

  • Troubleshoot and resolve assigned Help Desk tickets such as computer hardware or software problems, computer hardware setups, installations and moves, software installations, printing and scanning issues, hardware decommissioning and disposal and phone / fax issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on all active systems excluding devices or systems directly supported by a vendor like copiers and other highly proprietary systems and devices.
  • Resolve Local Area Network (LAN) issues in coordination with the Network Services team.
  • Support server room operations when directed including user account administration, data backups, restores and backup media rotations. Perform server installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
  • Create, manage and deploy disk images.
  • When requested, be available and on-call 24/7 to provide support for alerts issued by the applicable Monitoring System and or management.
  • Complete and document Sarbanes-Oxley checks when assigned and ensure adherence to I.T. Policies and Procedures. 
  • Support projects and the resolution of issues involving one or more company sites, when directed, which may require working outside normal work hours.
  • Perform basic Active Directory account and Microsoft Exchange mailbox administration tasks.
  • Ability to use a Help Desk ticketing system including thorough documentation of issues and resolutions.
  • Adhere to all IT policies and follow all IT Standard Work Instructions.
  • Provide end user training as required.
  • Use various hand tools and diagnostic tools as required.
  • U.S. person required.

Skills & Qualifications

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the outlined experience level, education, training, minimum years of experience, product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to be considered. 

  • Minimum High School Diploma

  • Minimum 3- 5 years’ experience in a Microsoft Windows environment.

  • Basic Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange account administration skills.

  • Able to install Windows Desktop and Server Operating Systems and applications like Office, Visio, Project, McAfee Virus Scan, ERP clients and engineering software.

  • Experienced with data backup and restore principles, technology and methods including backup job and media management.

  • Able to thoroughly document issue recognition and resolution including adding to standardized knowledge base articles and internal wikis.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor, with a customer focused attitude.

  • Detail oriented, able to adapt to a changing environment, able to work unsupervised according to stated priorities and use resourcefulness and creativity to support a culture driven by continuous improvement.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

                                                                                                                                                                 

    Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.  Safety glasses, safety shoes and other designated personal protective equipment as required for the position. 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, occasionally lift one to twenty five pounds

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus to review contract documents, identify parts and clearly see operations and identify hazards in the production area.

  • Working Conditions are: 80% office environment, 15% manufacturing environment; 5% outdoors.

  • Noise level is moderate in office environment.

  • Hearing protection must be worn in designated manufacturing areas.

  • Fully enclosed shoes, leather construction, must be worn in all manufacturing areas.

  • Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas.

  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
