Job Summary & Essential Functions: The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Employees must meet all customer/company quality expectations and/or requirements in order to ensure product integrity.
 Responsible for set up, operation, and troubleshooting of various CNC multi-axis machines, as well as manual machining equipment, for the manufacture of production hardware
 Employees in this job classification must be able to work with minimal assistance from area lead(s)
 Set up, adjust, and operate 3, 4, and 5 Axis CNC equipment with minimal assistance from area leads
 Edit programs and make recommendations to Supervisor/Engineering
 Able to utilize strong 3 dimensional visualization skills, when called upon to assist in process development or problem solving assignments
 Support R&D efforts and process debugging with programming or editing at the control, providing potential solutions to common machining problems
 Verify part conformity to print/specification using precision measuring equipment
 Capable of independently selecting proper tools for set up and operation of multi-axis CNC equipment and a variety of manual/automatic machines, including selecting appropriate cutting tool geometry for the material to be cut
 Set up all tools, perform related bench work, and verify part conformity using precision measuring equipment as required
 If fully qualified in 5 Axis Core mill operations, operates 4th Axis CNC Vertical/Gantry/Horizontal Mills, or other CNC equipment with minimal direction and assistance from area leads
 If fully qualified in 4 Axis Vertical/Gantry/Horizontal Milling operations, or other CNC equipment, operates 5 axis core mills with minimal direction and assistance from area leads
 Set up machines with furnished jigs and fixtures to machine production parts.
 May operate multiple machines simultaneously
 Perform SPC (Statistical Process Control) Charting as required

 Provide input to area lead/supervisor regarding processes that are not capable for either quality or production effectiveness
 Read/follow shop order/planning instructions, maintain material traceability, and perform written entries into shop orders, as required by planning and company procedures
 Record entries into Machine Event Logs, reflecting actions taken during machining operations, or providing information for following shifts
 Will make proper transactions in shop ERP system for jobs worked/completed
 All essential functions of CNC machinist

Skills & Qualifications


Required Skills & Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, qualifications, competencies, abilities and any physical demands if required.
 Experienced in the set up and operation of 3, 4, and 5 Axis CNC equipment, with emphasis on rotary axis/5 axis expertise
 Has demonstrable experience in problem solving skills
 Capable of reading and understanding planning documents, blueprints, and specifications
 Familiar with ANSI Y14.5 dimensioning practices
 Ability to use precision measuring equipment to check work
 Proficiency in basic shop math skills and understands machining practices in a variety of materials, including cutting tool geometry requirements and recommended feed and speed rates
 Proficiency in the use of shop ERP system
