Job Description

Job Summary & Essential Functions:  The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position.

The individual possess and applies knowledge of Material and Process Engineering principal, practice, and procedures for the fabrication of Composite and Metal bonded structures. The responsibilities include overseeing technical activities of new and existing projects, supporting new business development, documenting processes and procedures, ensuring technical excellence.

-Write and review Material and Process specifications

-Write procedures for bond assemblies and test

-Participate in the development of new  products and recommend solutions

-Participate in activities of new technologies

-Participate in continuous improvement activities

-Provide technical support to the Material Review Board

-Recommend rework and repair solutions

-Write engineering reports

-Ability to solve practical M&P problems

-Participate in quote activities

-Support the training programs to enhance the knowledge of technical staff Work as a team with the quality department to address technical issues Conduct analysis to solve problems and reduce product bond assembly costs

-Familiar with mechanical and chemical testing of Metal bond and composite assemblies

-Recommend alternate materials and be familiar with polymer chemistry

-Ability to understand and resolve substrates surface preparation issues

-Perform failure analysis

-Carry out experiments to enhance the company’s technological understanding of material performance

-All other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, qualifications,  competencies, abilities  and any  physical demands  if required.  Physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential requirements of this job.

-Knowledge of aerospace company specifications and best-practices

-Significant background in problem solving including CNC Machining and other fabrication processes

-Strong analytical and communication skills

-Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mylars

-Ability to drive root cause analysis

-Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook

-Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)

-Background in Lean and/or Six Sigma principles including Process Mapping, SS, DMAIC, Cellular Manufacturing, FMEA, Pull Systems and Continuous Improvement Events such
as Kaizen or Six Sigma Projects

-Overtime and weekend work as needed to support manufacturing

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications:  To perform this job successfully, an
individual must possess the outlined experience level, education, training, minimum years of experience, product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to be considered.

-Minimum ten (10) years experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment

-BS or BA in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology
or technical equivalent
