As a mechanical inspector in receiving at Ducommun, you are the "gate keeper" to product that comes into the facility. You will assure that we are meeting customer standards. You are our first line of defense when it comes to quality!

You will be supporting the common Ducommun goals of making our customers happy or happier while ensuring a quality product and increasing profitability and growth by elimination of waste.

Our mechanical inspectors perform receiving inspections on raw material per documentation and record results (70% of time). They have a great eye for detail! They complete rejected material disposition (MRR) paperwork and process for approvals by interacting with multiple departments and potentially vendors (20% of time). Mechanical inspectors recommend changes in documentation to ensure high quality results (5% of time) and perform other duties as assigned to support the quality team and performance center (5% of time).

In addition, as a mechanical inspector you will be working with the quality team and cross functionally to resolve rejected material issues. Great team work and positive attitudes are required!  Our mechanical inspectors demonstrate strong work ethics, great critical thinking skills and a "can do" attitude.

Skills & Qualifications

Mechanical inspectors have a thorough knowledge of dimension and tolerance as required by In-house and/or customer drawings. They must have the ability to comprehend and use applicable workmanship or other acceptability standards. Mechanical inspectors read and interpret engineering assembly drawings as a day-to-day part of their job. They work with computer programs such as Outlook, Word and Excel as well as other job specific programs.

At this location, we produce quality integrated electronics primarily for the military. Related experience is a plus! General requirements of all team members at this location are as follows: must possess a high school diploma or GED, must meet ITAR requirements of being a US Person, successfully pass the background and drug screening processes.

Mechanical inspectors work in the performance center in the shipping/receiving area at seated work stations. The temperature may be variable due to the dock doors. The production floor is a quiet, clean environment. Appropriate PPE is required. On very rare occasions, our mechanical inspectors may be asked to travel.

Physical requirements include the ability to stand, walk and sit on a frequent basis in order to maneuver product for inspection. The ability to see and differentiate color when inspecting a product is important and required. Lifting requirements are normally less than 10 lbs, but may occasionally be necessary up to 50 lbs.
