Mechanical Inspector

Job Description

This role will perform visual and mechanical inspections
required to complete work assignments to ensure conformance to drawing, specification and
purchase order requirements. This individual will inspect parts using CMM,
plate layout and/or other industry-specific inspection equipment.

  • Perform assigned in-process and final inspections.
  • Perform various inspection related assignments to support business requirements and
    goals as needed.
  • Inspect products using CMM, plate layouts or other industry-specific inspection
  • Prepare inspection documents using Visual FAIR software.
  • Assist with First article inspections under direction and guidance of upper level
  • Generate non-conformance reports for defects found during inspections for engineering
  • Adheres to company quality policies, procedures and safety standards.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to perform technical mathematics calculations using algebra, geometry and
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and customer specifications including a basic understanding
    of GD&T.
  • Experience with basic inspection techniques using plate layout and other industry-specific
    inspection equipment. Prior experience operating CMM highly desirable.
  • Strong PC skills using Microsoft Office products. PCDMIS and Visual FAIR experience
    highly desirable.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills and the ability to work well with upper level
    inspectors and internal customers.
  • Ability to perform required tasks accurately and effectively in fast paced environment.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (minimum)
  • Minimum of 2 years in mechanical inspection experience.
  • Familiar with the requirements of AS9100 and AS9102.
  • CQI and/or CQT highly desirable.  


  • Read and write English.
  • Strong visual and mechanical inspection skills.
  • Working knowledge, as appropriate, of algebra, trigonometry and geometry.
  • Basic understanding of calibration requirements – not calibration methods.
  • Basic understanding of machining and fabricating metal parts/assemblies.
