Job Description

A Network Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing of network infrastructure and application components.  Performs a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation and training tasks to ensure the computer network performance meets company and user satisfaction. Provides direction, information, and recommendations regarding network configurations and installations.

  • Design and maintenance of hardware and software pertaining to Enterprise LAN, and Wireless LAN VoIP, and Video, WebEx, Firewalls.

  • Maintain documentation and provide support to site IT staff and end users.

  • Design and improve WLAN / LAN logical, physical and security architectures

  • Answer and/or support Help Desk tickets and solve / correct problems or route to IT staff member or other resource

  • Provide support / troubleshoot advanced LAN/WAN, Video and wireless devices.

  • Configure and setup Cisco Firewalls, VPN Endpoints and Security appliances for access to vital business applications

  • Design, setup and configure complex switching environments

  • Design, setup and configure complex wireless networking that supports open or secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Local Area Networking

  • Configuring and installing client and server network software for upgrading and maintaining network and telecommunication systems.

  • Maintaining multi-site network operations and software applications, operating systems and regular maintenance with both private and public facilities

  • Managing assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.

  • Responding to inquiries from staff, Engineers, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors and etc. to provide technical assistance and support

  • Supervising the administration of systems and servers related network to ensure availability of services to authorized users.

  • Troubleshooting malfunctions of network hardware and software applications, telephones and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.

  • Maintain and document WLAN / LAN logical, physical and security architectures

  • Follow processes and standard work

  • Answer and/or support Help Desk tickets and solve / correct problems or route to IT staff member or other resource

  • Provide support / troubleshoot basic LAN/WAN, Video and wireless devices.

  • Sarbanes Oxley Compliance

  • Maintain Firewall standard practices

  • Maintain phone database and user add/changes.

  • Any other duties as assigned by management.

  • Travel up to 25%.

Skills & Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Must have advanced skills in troubleshooting, configuration, and installation of Switching, Routing, Wireless access and Wireless Security using industry best practices.

  • Understand Video concepts, MCU booking and integration

  • Advanced VoIP Skillset

  • Advanced skills using Microsoft office applications including Visio

  • Must be detail oriented, able to take direction, act as part of multi-disciplinary and cross functional teams, write supporting documentation and have excellent written and verbal skills.

  • Knowledge of VoIP implementation and support.

  • Maintain network security through proper configuration of VPN and Firewalls.

  • Ability to communicate in an understandable, polite and friendly manner, both written and verbal.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a small business environment.

  • Availability in response to needs of the customer for installation, maintenance and equipment malfunctions.

 

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications: 

  • U.S. citizen or green card required.

  • BS degree preferred but not required.

  • Minimum 5-7 year’s work related experience.

  • Hands on experience installing, configuring, upgrading, and maintaining Cisco Unified Communications products

  • Hands on experience with Cisco ASR/ISR routers and Cisco Catalyst switches

  • Installing and upgrading Cisco voice gateways

  • Experience with TCP/IP, VoIP and LAN/WAN networks

  • Experience with Cisco ASA firewalls

  • Experience with the following: OSPF; EIGRP; MPLS; PRI, T1; SIP Endpoints; SIP Trunks; MGCP; H.323, SCCP; QoS

  • Networking: Switches, Routers, Hubs, Servers, Cables, Racks, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, Latency, VoIP, QoS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, NHRP, ATM, PPP, MPLS.

  • Current Certifications: CCNA Minimum CCNP Preferred

  • Strong Cisco Unified Communication Manager configuration and infrastructure experience

  • Detail oriented, able to adapt to a changing environment, able to work unsupervised according to stated priorities and use resourcefulness and creativity to support a culture driven by continuous improvement.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor, coupled with customer centric service with end users along with problem resolution and on time service.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong Security configuration and infrastructure experience.
