Job Summary and Essential Functions:


The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position: Tends machine equipped with compressed air spray nozzles that coat products or materials with paint or rust proofing agents.


The following description has been provided as examples of the types of work performed by employees assigned to this job classification. Each job function will be conducted within the quality standards described in the Quality Policy and Safety Rules.   • Pours premixed paint into reservoir of machine and couples hose to paint pots or cup guns.

  • Adjusts sleeve on nozzles to attain specified spraying pressure and turns thumbscrew to adjust spray pattern towards articles or materials to be coated.

  • Mixes paints and applies on oil to spray pumps.

  • Applies paint per work order and mil specifications. 

  • Responsible for the proper storage of hazardous wastes within paint department.

  • Other duties as assigned may include but not limited to clean line and dipping maskant for chem-mill.

    Basic Qualifications: 


    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to operate or learn to operate a mil thickness gauge required

  • Ability to operate a forklift

  • Ability to operate an overhead crane

  • Must be safety oriented

  • Read and understand  internal procedures and policies

  • Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions

  • Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook

  • Basic Computer Skills- able to learn new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance

    Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


    Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.  Safety glasses, safety shoes and other designated personal protective equipment as required for the position.

  • Noise level is moderate in office environment

  • Hearing protection must be worn in designated manufacturing areas

  • Fully enclosed shoes, leather construction, must be worn in all manufacturing areas

  • Safety glass required in all manufacturing areas

  • Annual pulmonary test is required
