Job Description

  • Ensures timely and accurate processing of all aspects of weekly/bi-weekly, exempt/non-exempt, and/or union/non-union payrolls for multiple locations, across multiple states.
  • Ensures department execution of all payroll-related processes such as garnishments, year-end processing requirements, payroll banking requirements, tax-jurisdiction set up, 401k funding and transmission, etc.  
  • Maintains knowledge of and ensures compliance with federal and state and wage and hour regulations; collaborates with management and/or HR team on needed actions.
  • Manages payroll team responsible for team training, development, discipline, and appraisals.
  • Manages payroll system set-up and data integration with HRIS, accounting/finance (GL), tax, benefits, time and attendance, and other related areas.
  • Collaborates with respective business partners.
  • Ensures that payroll reports and data requests are handled timely and appropriately.
  • Manages vendor relationships and service quality levels.
  • Handles and resolves escalated payroll questions, discrepancies, and issues.
  • Responsible for stock and equity plan administration.
  • Ensures accuracy of grants, vesting, taxation, exercises, and system related items.
  • Ensures best-practice operations; responsible for improving and/or developing efficient department processes and procedures, eliminating non-added value work.
  • Ensures documentation of payroll standard work processes and policies.
  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned including leading projects and participation in project committees

Skills & Qualifications

  • Highly technical skillset and strong proficiency in excel and report writing
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Proficient with payroll software and time and attendance systems
  • Computer literate in all Microsoft and Outlook programs
  • Ability to meet established deadlines; works with a sense of urgency to address/resolve issues
  • Ability to lead and develop a high-performance team
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to use technical skills to navigate various HR, Stock plan, other software programs
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities timely and efficiently within a rapidly changing environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interactive communication skills with all levels of employees, management, and business partners
  • Organization skills, with emphasis on attention to detail
  • Understanding of payroll taxation
  • Understanding of confidentiality within the HR and Payroll Department
