Job Summary & Essential Functions:

Responsible for ensuring that the QA Inspection Team is working to the daily operation plan set forth by the priorities in the dispatch list from Baan, FIFO shelves, and managing changes made daily by the Work Center Managers/Supervisors.

The QA Team Leader coordinates activities associated with the QA Department. Leads Inspectors to ensure continuous control over products, materials, and facilities. Demonstrates understanding of departmental processes and ownership of key actions and initiatives. Instills the Company Quality Policy and Core Values in support of a positive quality-focused culture in all.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for oversight and hands on support of day-to-day inspection activities, work flow, and providing feedback to the Quality Manager.

• Coordinate workflow and establish priorities of customer product inspection activities and report on status

• Interface with other supervisors, managers, and team leaders to coordinate activities and to receive and provide support

• Investigate and resolve quality issues with product and processes

• Champion real time resolution

• Responsible for the training of new employees, cross training of existing employees, and monitoring employees’ progress through the training process.

• Demonstrate a 100% dedication to Quality, Environment Health and Safety (EHS) and Continuous Improvement (CI)

• Utilize BAAN reporting sessions to monitor cell demand and performance.

• Maintain Metrics used to track team performance.

• Assists with RCCA investigations and actions within the department for process improvements.

• Internal Audit Team Member and performs internal audits.

• Suggests changes in use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department to address changing business needs

• Documents improvements to standard work procedures to increase efficiency of department.

10%

• Lead team meetings in the event Quality Manager is absent for the day or on vacation etc.

• Monitor employees’ daily quality, productivity and efficiency and provides feedback to Quality Manager

• Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.

• Performs other duties as assigned including leading projects and participation in project committees

•       Good verbal communication skills – able to share information in-group settings and on a “one-to-one”, explain things and answer questions both in person and by phone in a clear and understandable manner.

•       Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

•       Ability to use measuring instruments including but not limited to calipers, height gage, and scales. 

•       Conscientious, organized and meticulous – records must be accurate and maintained.

•       Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions.

•       Must comply with specific safety policies

•       Read and understand internal procedures and policies.

•       Ability to drive relentless root cause analysis to gain from our mistakes.

•       Overtime and weekend work as needed to support the customer.

•       Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with integrated ERP systems.

•       In order to be able to perform the job successfully the QA Inspector Team Leader is required to have training on some or all of the following items or related experience.

o   Auditing

o   SPC Data Collection and Interpretation

o   Understand GD & T requirements

o   Paint Inspection

o   Inspection Tool Usage

o   Inspection Tool Calibration

o   Basic CMM operation

o   Blueprint/Mylar reading

o   Visual Welding Inspection

•       Annual baseline hearing test is required



•       Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

•       Acceptable attendance is an essential function of the position.


Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the outlined experience level, education, training, minimum years of experience, product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to be considered.  List in bullet fashion what they must possess. 

•       Associate’s degree (A.A) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to three years technical field and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

•       HS Diploma / GED required.

•       2 years of experience in aerospace quality preferred.

•       Knowledge of aerospace company specifications and practices

•       Knowledge of regulations that govern the manufacturing process around aircraft parts is essential (AS9100, Nadcap and/or FAA).

•       Math Skills – decimals, percentages, fractions, ratios, proportions; geometry and trigonometry is a plus.

•       Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints and mylars.

•       Experience as a CMM operator using PC-DMIS software in a manufacturing facility required or equivalent combination of experience and education preferred.

•       Experience with Model Based Definition and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing strongly desired. 

•       DQR designation preferred

 Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.  Include things such as safety glasses, safety shoes and other designated personal protective equipment as required for the position.  

•       Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required

•       Working conditions are:  75% manufacturing environment / 25% office environment.

•       Occasionally required to work near moving mechanical parts.

•       Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and airborne particles.

•       Noise level is usually moderate.

•       Hearing protection is required in designated areas.

•    Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas.

•       Safety Footwear shall be in accordance with the following: ASTM standard F2413-05 with minimum impact resistance, compression resistance and metatarsal designation ratings of 75 foot pounds (i.e. ASTM F2413-05 I/75 C/75 Mt/75), which are viewable on the inside tag of footwear.
