RF Project Engineer – Hi-Rel

Job Description


The RF Hi-Rel Project Engineer will lead the engineering team through all phases of project management with the successful outcome defined as on-time and on-budget project delivery to a satisfied customer. This role will have ownership and accountability of all interim deliverables from quoting, to design, through sustaining engineering.

  • Achievement of NRE Cost, Design to Cost, and Schedule performance against budget for assigned projects. (Shared with functional department leadership)

  • Create and maintain project schedules, risk analysis, procurement plans, subcontract management plans, project staffing plans, and budgets (direct and indirect costs, subcontracts, travel, etc.).

  • Resolve and coordinate project cost, schedule, and technical performance issues.
    • Create measurable milestones for team members and hold accountable

    • Collaborate with program team, technical peer teams, management and related supporting groups to ensure requirements are met, actions are closed, and milestones achieved

    • Facilitate resolution of barriers, including cross-functional influential leadership.

    • Escalate issues or risks that cannot be resolved at the project team level.

    • Monitor project scope and escalate concerns

      • Create Project Review materials for internal management Gate Reviews

      • Prepare and present formal and informal design and progress reviews for internal and external customers.

      • Facilitate internal and external meetings (in person and teleconference)

      • Report regularly to RF Product Line Manager and our customer(s).

      • Maintain high customer satisfaction for assigned projects.

      • Identify opportunities to grow business content with associated projects and customers.

      • Support significant proposals with related PMO inputs.

      • Initiate and review  proposal Bases of Estimates and Schedules.

Skills & Qualifications


  • Excellent written and oral communication for domestic and international customers.

  • Strong skillset in creating and managing schedules, including in Microsoft Project.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Project, Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint) 

  • Strong problem-solving skillset

  • Experience in cross-functional leadership

  • Experience in Space/Hi-Rel programs for Government, Government Prime and Commercial customers

  • BS in Engineering required; MS in Engineering, MBA, or equivalent experience

  • PMP preferred.  

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in related technical contract management environment with one (1) years in a project management capacity.

  • Candidates should have familiarity with program planning, including earned value management, supply chain, risk management, quality control, production control, and product costing tools. 

  • Must demonstrate a keen understanding of basic business operations and the organizational levers (systems, processes, departments, functions) that drive profitable growth.  The individual will work without appreciable direction and exercise considerable latitude to determine and develop approaches to solutions.
