Sr. Manager of Corporate Accounting

Job Summary & Essential Functions:

The Senior Manager of Corporate Accounting position will be responsible for managing the Corporate Accounting and the Shared Services Accounting day to day activities, the monthly closing process, supporting and financial reporting for multiple segment/site locations, stock-based compensation accounting administration, and various special projects.  In addition, the Senior Manager of Corporate Accounting position will lead or provide support related to SEC reporting, technical accounting research, and various other special projects.  This position and related activities will require interfacing with all levels of Operations, Corporate, and Accounting personnel on a regular basis. 

Some of the specific duties include: 

  • Managing and training the Corporate Accounting Manager and as needed, the Corporate Accounting and Shared Services Accounting teams as well.

  • Manage the monthly closing process across the enterprise with appropriate metrics to identify continuous process improvement opportunities.

  • Responsible for supervising all general accounting activities, including ensuring the preparation and approval of journal vouchers (JVs).

  • Supervising the management of fixed assets accounting.

  • Supervising and/or management of intercompany accounting.

  • Supervising the management of share-based compensation accounting.

  • Supervising the management of payroll accounting.

  • Supervising and/or approving account reconciliations.

  • Supervising the management of lease accounting.

  • Solid GAAP knowledge in order to research, resolve and document technical accounting issues and the related conclusions. 

  • Solid SEC reporting knowledge.

  • Supporting Site Controllers.

  • Supervising and ensuring effective internal controls in accordance with SOX 404 requirements.

  • Supervising and/or supporting internal and external auditing activities and manage external auditor accordingly.  

  • Supervising and/or making improvements to the existing processes as well as helping to define and document standard work.

  • Solid communication skills (written and oral).

  • Attention to detail as needed to ensure accuracy of financial information.

  • Lead and/or participate in various special projects.

 Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Solid knowledge of GAAP

  • Solid SEC reporting knowledge

  • At least intermediate Excel skills

  • Hands on experience working with an ERP system is a plus

  • Bachelor’s Degree in either Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university

  • CPA certification

  • Five or more years of recent Big 4 or 2nd tier public accounting experience plus two or more years in private industry

  • Must possess solid knowledge of GAAP and proper accounting procedures

  • Must possess solid knowledge of SEC reporting requirements

  • Must have strong leadership skills and work well in a team and matrix environment

  • Solid knowledge of internal controls and SOX 404 requirements

  • Public company experience is preferred.
