Ducommun is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer.  This position plans and designs manufacturing processes for our production facility. Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization. Determines the parts, equipment, and tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications.

•         Interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine sequence of operations, and setup requirements to produce the product. 

•         Documents manufacturing processes to capture all relevant information for the production of the product to the prescribed requirements. 

•         Designs holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, punch presses, welders, grinders, and shapers to safely secure material being processed in order to hold tolerances consistently.

•         Prescribes by written document or computerized machine control programs all control variables for the effective production of products through manufacturing processes. 

•         Assists process operators as needed to ensure production operations are done in a safe, effective, and controlled manner. 

•         Assists process operators and inspectors in verification and validation of conformance of process outputs to specifications. 

•         Updates as needed process documentation to reflect actual processes, process work times, and required resources for future planning of recurring product production. 

•         Confers with management, supervisors, production personnel, or others to resolve production problems. 

•         Assists supervisors in the documentation of production process equipment maintenance plans. 

•         Assists management in the identification and justification of capital equipment for process improvements. 

•         Assists supervisors in the installation of replacement parts in process mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and test operation of unit to ensure safety, functionality, and performance. 

•         Maximizes the ability to machine all required parts in-house efficiently and cost effectively. Assists with make/buy decisions on new parts.

•         Other duties as required

Basic Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

Requires a bachelor's degree of engineering. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.

Requires a minimum of 0 to 2 years of related experience.

The job level of this position may vary depending upon the skill level and competency of the individual.
