Manufacturing Engineer

Determines optimal manufacturing methods and processes for producing products.  Responsible for defining work processes, documenting work instructions, designing manufacturing tooling, conducting time studies for reducing waste and excess, line balancing, and driving continuous improvement.  Understands productivity improvement methodologies including Lean Manufacturing and champions change.

We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications. 

Our Facility in Carson, CA is our Engineered Products Group location, which houses our Human Machine Interface, Motion Control Device, Radiofrequency Departments.   

  Job Summary
  • Support continuous improvement projects utilizing lean and six sigma tools.
  • Support cross functional teams to support RCCA activities on CARs and DMRs.
  • Support the design of manufacturing processes, work instructions and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, and material handling.
  • Support the design, test and validation of tooling and fixtures.
  • Support production operations and personnel on technical issues.
  • Support NPI teams with development of manufacturing processes and procedures for new products.
  • Create and update routing information (cycle times, notes, etc.).
  • Train production personnel on the proper use and execution of tools, processes, and procedures.
  • Conduct process audits and time studies.
  • Communicate with vendors, and suppliers on projects on technical issues as required.
  • Other assignments as required.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of acrylic machining, painting processes, and assembly tooling.
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret blueprints, manufacturing plans, specifications and purchase orders, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to contribute/participate on cross-functional, problem-solving teams.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office; Excel and Word. Working knowledge of an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) System desired but not mandatory. Ability to work independently, with a higher level of judgment making skills.

Required Experience and Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or
    Related Engineering Field.
  • 1-3 years experience in a production environment, preferably with electromechanical, aerospace, and industrial applications.
  • Basic understanding of 6-Sigma and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Experience leading cross functional teams on projects a plus.
  • U.S. Person status, defined per EAR Part 772 and ITAR 120.15 as:
  • any individual who is granted U.S. citizenship; or
  • any individual who is granted U.S. permanent residence ("Green Card" holder); or
  • any individual who is granted status as a "protected person" under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
