Job Description

Job Summary:

Acquire material pricing and labor estimates from approved sources and integrate information into quotation submittal format.       

• Review and confirm RFQ requirements are met.

• Oversee bidding activity and progress. Support decision making regarding material / labor estimates.

• Prepare and support final quote. Submit final quotes within LOA.

• Conduct labor estimates including time studies, preparing labor hours for quotes.

• Develop and maintain labor standards.

• Input labor into cost breakdown and ensure accuracy through continuous alignment with cost accounting.

• Interface closely with engineering as required to support bidding process. Obtain appropriate engineering approvals for quotes.

• Convert BOM to usable format and load into proposal system.

• Send out RFQ to Suppliers and engage Corporate Commodity / Supply Chain as required.

• Complete inputs to the bid from suppliers.

• Perform analysis and selection of suppliers and costs.

• Collects and rolls all data up into bid review package.

• Review specifications, drawings, verbal instructions, interpret customer material, and labor requirements

• Create and maintain material file for estimating purposes

• Review quote for accuracy and forward for further review

• Perform other assignments as required

• Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.

Skills & Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications: 

• Demonstrated skill in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and specifications

• Planning and organization skills—prioritization, resource allocation, multi-tasking

• Must have intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including e-mail, Word and Excel skills (MRPII is a plus)

• Strong written and verbal skills to interact with people at various levels and functions inside and outside of Ducommun

• Understanding of manufacturing processes and capabilities

• Detail-oriented and highly accurate

. Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications:

• High School diploma; prefer Associates degree (engineering or technical degree preferred).

• 1-2 years progressive experience performing estimating functions
