Quality Engineer

Our Facility in Appleton, WI manufactures state-of-the-art circuit boards for Aerospace and Defense as well as Industrial and Medical Industries.

Job Summary

  • Ensure that all contractual and regulatory quality requirements are defined and communicated on assigned customers and programs.
  • Support all departments to ensure control of receiving, in-process and final quality of product.
  • Recommend more efficient and quality-oriented processes
  • Provide customer interface on quality issues and problem resolution
  • Collaborate with sales, purchasing, production, quoting and contract management to establish quality procedures for meeting customer requirements.
  • Interface with suppliers to correct problems dealing with purchased materials.
  • Provide support to manufacturing including root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions to resolve problems in product manufactured.
  • Assist in defining and monitoring the quality management system and in developing an organizational culture that stresses quality processes.
  • Assist in monitoring personnel and processes to ensure compliance with company guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Provide daily leadership and direction to employees.
  • Train, advise, and counsel employees on work processes and procedures as well as company policies
  • Regulate work flow to ensure maximum use of capacity and efficiency within department
  • Ensure project and assignments remain consistent with company practices, policies, and regulations (for example: SOX,
  • OSHA, Management System Standards)
  • Interact and support all internal and external customers and set standards that promote good relations and communication
  • Research and troubleshoot problems and corrective actions to allow continuous improvement
  • Promote the concept of individual responsibility for quality work and workmanship standards
  • Track and monitor departmental performance objectives
  • Participate in periodic audits to ensure compliance to company standards
  • Participate in recruiting, selection, and development of all operations personnel through maintaining discipline and
  • personnel relations, interviewing screened applicants
  • Provide input for hiring, terminations, transfers, salary adjustments and promotions
  • Adhere to the General Requirements of Team Members
  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
  • Perform other assignments as required

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic manufacturing and assembly processes together with work measurement and work standards.
  • Proficient in technical writing, good documentation skills; attention to detail is critical
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings is required
  • Demonstrated analytical expertise including ability to plan, resolve problems effectively, and establish priorities.
  • Understanding of DOE, 6-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing desired
  • Intermediate level of computer skills in email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Microsoft Project, and MRP/ERP
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and project company image to attract business.
  • Negotiation and conflict management skills together with demonstrated experience troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and adapt within a rapidly changing environment

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience within the functional area assigned
