 Production Planner

Under the guidance of the Master Scheduler the Production Planner develops and executes production schedules aligned to SIOP, Master Schedules and material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials meet production and customer service requirements

Job Summary & Essential Functions:

1.        Production Schedule Execution:

  • Develop and maintain demand planning inputs and schedules to balance meeting customer request dates and inventory, liability exposure, and profit goals by receiving and processing customer purchase orders, forecasts, and pull signals and reviews completeness and accuracy which includes product revision/configuration, order quantity, pricing, shipping address, lead-time, and other pertinent information.Strong ability to translate recurring rolling customer demand into an executable production plan schedule and optimum material flow, inventory level and on –time delivery.
  • Interact with internal commodity buyers, material planners, operations and program management to align recurring production scheduling within constrains and required delivery requirements.Ensure internal plan and results are achieved through supplier material pull in/out to minimize inventory and meet production plan.
  • Work with Master Scheduler, SIOP Leader and supply chain members to support end-to-end forward looking supply chain process and execution including demand, sales order entry, production planning, inventory management, and material preparation. Ensure alignment between production schedule, customer order fulfillment, customer requirement and internal / external capacity.
  • Support forward looking master schedules to ensure that appropriate process times are maintained within ERP system.
  • Provide production status and outlook through ERP/MRP systems and communicate internally to insure that product is being completed per schedule.
  • Monitor, maintain, and track ERP system integrity to customer requirements.
  • Monitor all customer E-commerce PO/POC portals
  • Works with the Program Manager and/or customer or value stream team to resolve any exceptions prior to entering the information into the MRP system.
  • Works directly with the materials and manufacturing groups to ensure on-time delivery of product to customer.
  • Oversees finished goods, WIP, and Kanban levels of customer products and recommends quarterly FG levels based on customer forecasts and consumption behaviors where needed
  • Maintain scheduling and demand history files for each MPS/MRP

2.        ITAR Compliance:

  • Ensure ITAR compliance and control through secured and coded correspondence and designated / approved communication portals.

3.        Continuous Improvement:

  • Focus on continuous improvement within scope of responsibilities for developing, improving and implementing sound production planning practices.
  • Identify, promote, and communicate opportunities for continuous improvement

4.     Communication and Collaboration:

  • Support and promote company core values of honesty, professionalism, respect, trust and teamwork and utilize the Ducommun Way methodology to achieve objectives.
  • Interface with key functions and levels of the businesses as required.
  • Represents the company in contacts with the customer and outside parties for issues concerning the assigned program.
  • Provides timely notification to management of program schedule impact
  • Supports Program Manager in execution of Customer Surveys and gathering customer feedback
  • Coordinate with Operations Management to integrate program schedules that support contractual commitments and company goals
  • Work with Program Manager to analyze and review all contracts to verify Terms and Conditions, Work Statements, Funding, Performance Periods, Deliverables, and other customer General Conditions. Coordinate review of terms and conditions with Program Manager.
  • Communicate new requirements to Program Managers
  • Update and send out daily incoming order summaries
  • Monitor the work order schedule and notify the customer or value stream team of potential problems in meeting customer demand, and escalate any potential work order, load challenges to the Operations and/or Supply Chain team.
  • Provide acknowledgement of receipt order, forecast, pull signal, or change notification directly to the customer upon acceptance.

5.     Reporting and Data Analysis:

  • Create and manage program bookings and provide data for sales forecasts.
  • Analyze and update demand changes in accordance with the Customer contract and company procedures in a timely manner to eliminate past due demand and improve on-time delivery to our customers
  • Process and run reports as needed to support Program Management activities
  • Manages and reports the customer On-Time Delivery metric
  • Verifies PO price/Release quantity on regular basis to ensure accuracy of data entered
  • Generate key information for financial forecasting process and be able to rationalize as compared to the loaded sales orders and forecast

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications:   

To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the outlined experience level, education, training, minimum years of experience, product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to be considered.

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in business, supply chain, technical or related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a production, material or inventory role.
  • Manufacturing experience strongly desired.
  • Knowledge/experience in material, inventory and production control processes.
  • Prefer prior ERP/MRP experience.
  • Aerospace or Electronic Component manufacturing experience desired.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus to review supply chain documents, identify parts and clearly see operations and identify hazards in the production area. Use of computer screen and other electronic devices.
  • Working Conditions are: 80% office environment, 15% manufacturing environment; 5% outdoors.
  • Noise level is moderate in office environment.
  • Hearing protection must be worn in designated manufacturing areas.
  • Fully enclosed shoes, leather construction, must be worn in all manufacturing areas.
