Test Technician

Position requires performing in-process and final product testing using RF sweepers, RF power meters, vector network analyzers (VNAs), spectrum analyzers and other related RF components, high power amplifiers, thermal vacuum chambers, and vibration fixtures.

Job Summary

  • Performs production testsinvolving the understanding of engineering theory and interpretation of results in a high reliability (space) environment. Maintain test schedule.
  • Ownership of end item through extensive test cycles; shepherd unit through tests at outside processors, manage and drive schedule of outside testing, interfacing and advocating with vendors.
  • Understand Customer MRB authority, documentation, and other requirements inherent in the high reliability environment.
  • Diagnose malfunctions or production problems on the basis of test results.
  • Perform trouble shooting and rework of complex items.
  • Report regularly to management and other stakeholders.
  • Complex box-level assembly work, test set up and documentation, other tasks which require special care in handling or other procedures which require good dexterity and facility in use of a variety of hand tools.
  • May set up or devise test procedures for new or limited-production items.
  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area. 
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Familiar with RF measurement equipment and techniques
  • Perform RF Bench, Thermal Cycling, Vibration, and Passive Intermodulation on Spaceflight components in accordance with test procedures
  • Must be able to read and interpret test instructions, assembly instructions, and engineering drawings (blueprints)
  • Prepare test reports
  • Assemble critical spaceflight hardware
  • Clean and maintain test areas and equipment such as: Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers and Thermal Chambers
  • Minimum 5 years direct test experience, preferably within space or aerospace/defense test engineering industry
  • Participate in continuous process improvement activities
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Must complete all assigned paperwork as required.
  • Knowledge of basic electricity and electronics safety precautions.
  • Proficiency with computer usage and knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Required Experience and Education

  • Vocational, High school diploma, or general education degree (GED); or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, and experience.
