Job Description

Work with general supervision, plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal parts, equipment, and products. The following description is provided as an example of the types of work performed by employees assigned to this job classification.  Management reserves the right to add, modify change or rescind the work assignments of different positions in accordance to Ducommun’s business needs. Each job function will be conducted within the quality standards described in the company’s Quality Statement. Follow all safety rules. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products.

  • Performs all deburring operations.

  • Strip remaining maskant and silstic from finished chem. Mill parts.

  • Removes burrs and sharp edges by use of various hand tools and materials such as files and edge breakers.

  • Smoothes edges and removes build ups with air or electric equipment using abrasive disk and sleeves.

  • Operates burring equipment using countersink, grinding wheels, burring rolls, bench grinders, rotary files, drill presses and jitterbug.

  • Control thickness by using ultrasonic gages and micrometers calipers, scales to work to close tolerances.

Ability to read, interpret and comprehend instructions, such as blue prints and shop drawings, chem mill templates with an emphasis on chemical milling features, excess and special conditions. Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
