Job Description

  • Design and development of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) at subsystem and system level for Aerospace.  Avionics panel design to MIL-DTL-7788 experience preferred.  Illuminated push button design to MIL-PRF-22885 preferred.
  • Define requirements and interfaces for avionics Human Machine Interface - design, integrate, implement and validate Human Machine Interface for component and system level avionics products.
  • Provide engineering technical support and design input for projects.
  • Assist with conception, development, and implementing manufacturing processes for Switch and Panel assembly lines. Technically document procedures and processes.
  • Collaborate with bid proposal, purchasing, production, quality, contract management, and outside vendors to set and meet schedules and accommodate other customer requirements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and propose corrective actions for continuous improvement and for resolutions to manufacturing problems including processes, machines, or programming issues.
  • Make capital equipment recommendations.
  • Perform other assignments as required and all other duties as assigned.
  • Functioning as the Lead Engineer in defining the design specifications, architecture and manufacturing for various lighted Push Button Switches and panel products.
  • Work with the customers, other cross functional team members, and suppliers to ensure overall design meets functional and business requirements. 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Must have extensive design capabilities in lighted push button switches, panels or other intricate mechanical devices.  Detailed responsibilities include and not limited to overall proposal preparation, conceptual design, and component design including circuit layout, testing, plus performance data evaluation.  A good understanding of aerospace and test instrumentation is also required.
  • Proficient in technical writing, good documentation skills; attention to detail is critical; ability to read and interpret engineering drawings required.

  • Prior experience with an ISO-9000 AS-9100 environment is a plus.

  • Demonstrated analytical expertise including ability to plan, resolve problems effectively, and establish priorities.

  • Understanding of DOE, 6-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing desired.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and project company image to attract business.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the outlined experience level, education, training and certifications in order to be considered.

    • BSME with minimum 5 to 7 years of engineering experience in design.

    • Training and experience in design-for-manufacturing preferred.
    • Training and experience in the use of six sigma tools preferred.
    • Working knowledge of specifications applicable to military or commercial aircraft instrument panels preferred.
    • Proficient in the following:

      • SolidWorks, MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, Project

    • Must be U.S. Person.
