Job Summary & Essential Functions:  The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position. Directs and coordinates the activities of the Engineering Planners.

  • Prepare project updates within required timeframe and delegate individual tasks to all employees

  • Provide support and join improvement based methods. Analyze all opportunities and recommend ways to improve efficiency and reduce costs

  • Assess and implement training needs for new and existing employees

  • Properly documents all training for state funding program

  • Identify internal and external training programs to address competency gaps and/or career pathways

  • Participates in engineering production problem solving activities (correct action board, Kaizen events, etc)

  • Partner with internal stakeholders regarding employee training needs

  • Meets production schedules through proper planning and lean tools

  • Insures a safe working environment

  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems

  • Confers with manager and/or other supervisors to coordinate activities

  • Confers with manager, quality assurance and production on specific issues

  • Issues written and oral instructions.

  • Completes annual reviews of shift personnel.

  • Maintains time and attendance and overtime records for assigned departments.

  • Supports the values of the company.

  • Supports the team decisions and provides input

  • Continuously improve production processes to contribute to the teamwork necessary to continuously improve other processes

  • Attends scheduled meetings

  • Attends/runs weekly tailgate meetings

  • Responsible for the proper handling, training and management of hazardous waste generated in assigned departments

  • Other duties as assigned.

•       Knowledge of aerospace company specifications and practices

  • Ability to lead a group of people in a constructive, productive and fair manner

•       Familiarity with sheet metal and composite fabrication, machining, forming, aerospace assembly methods

•       Ability to manage numerous projects and meet deadlines or recovery plans

•       Ability to work independently and within team environment

•       Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills

  • Pleasant personality, must interact with all levels of personnel

  • Overtime and weekend work as needed to support engineering and manufacturing

  • Read and understand internal procedures and policies

  • Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions

  • Team oriented with a the ability to work in continuous improvement environment

  • Basic Computer Skills: Able to learn new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance


    Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the outlined experience level, education, training, minimum years of experience, product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to be considered. 

•       Bachelors of Arts Technical degree plus three – five years’ experience as Engineering/Production or Operations

•       Two – five year’s experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment

•       Must possess strong computer skills

  • Technical writing skills required

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary to produce and deliver quality training programs

  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively among all levels of the organization

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; must have the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently

  • Proficient in MS Office, Power Point, Word and Excel or similar programs required

  • Strong knowledge of learning management systems

  • Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences
