Strategic Business Unit / Performance Center Supply Chain Manager is a member of the Ducommun Business Unit team with direct organizational responsibility for all elements of supply chain process, including:

  • Strategic Business Unit / Performance Center Procurement/Contracting

  • Ducommun Commodity Strategy Process Integration

  • Source Selection

  • Supplier Development

  • Materials Management

  • Inventory Management

  • New Product Proposal Support

  • New Product Introduction

The individual is responsible for all aspects of the Supply Chain Management process, providing leadership and aligned organizational direction for the supply chain function across strategic business unit/performance center.

Scope of leadership includes supply chain strategic/tactical planning and execution activities associated with all related business processes, from point of backlog order enter through to customer receipt of product to ensure quality, delivery and cost objectives are achieved.

Primary Functional Responsibilities (Essential Functions of the Position):

  • Ensures effective supply chain management systems and processes are developed, implemented and continually improved
  • Provides for selection, training, development, succession and performance evaluation of SCM team and it’s members
  • Works collaboratively with Performance Center leadership and teams to continuously assess operating plan and functional results to apply necessary business improvement methodologies
  • Supports all customers in a timely and professional manner
  • Assures materials and services are acquired at the lowest total cost to Ducommun
  • At the Performance Center leads and participates in the selection, evaluation and management of suppliers
  • Reports on core Ducommun performance measurements, defines additional measurements aligned to specific initiatives and areas of opportunity
  • Provides supply chain policy guidance, evaluation and direction to staff including the adherence and development of supply chain standard work policies and procedures
  • Brings information technology solutions to Ducommun as appropriate and promotes information systems applications as needed in a timely and cost effective manner
  • Investigates current supply chain trends and solutions and implements where appropriate
  • Ensures processes for supply chain management results in the highest level of internal and external customer satisfaction
  • Manages key external and internal supply chain elements to achieve recurring improvement to inventory turns.
  • Initiates, promotes and drives lean methodologies across all processes and standard work
  • Promotes and demonstrates the guiding principles, mission, vision and values of Ducommun



  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or related area or equivalent experience, masters degree preferred
  • Eight years supply chain or related experience including significant experience in a leadership role, commodity management and supplier development desirable
  • Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, written and verbal skills
  • ERP system experience
  • ISM or APICS certification desirable
  • Aerospace background desired
  • AS9100 understanding preferred
