Operational Excellence Leader

Job Description


Provide continuous improvement support to the manufacturing facilities teams by leading projects, implementing new practices, and procedures.

  • Work closely with the VP of Operational Excellence and the VP & General Manager to align continuous improvement projects with business key performance indicators

  • Lead improvement teams utilizing the Six Sigma methodology and lean techniques, track project schedule, benefits, and other key metrics

  • Assures effective customer service and relations by implementing processes to deliver quality products on time

  • Support the enterprise in standardization of processes and training material as specified in rolling out Operational Excellence Strategy across Ducommun Engineered Products Group (EP)

  • Adhere to General Requirements of Team Members

  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.

  • Perform other assignments as required

Skills & Qualifications


  • Must be a proven leader and team player, with a track record in change management

  • Strong team builder, mentor, and coach

  • Demonstrated ability to implement new techniques and continuous improvement programs at all levels of manufacturing operations

  • Understanding and minimum 5 years experience with world class manufacturing principles including JIT, Demand Flow, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma techniques

  • Planning and organizational skills – prioritization, resource allocation, multi-tasking

  • Creative and innovative approach to problem resolution

  • Facilitation, negotiation, and conflict management skills

  • Computer skills – intermediate level in Microsoft Office and Project Management

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in written form with people at all levels inside and outside the company

  • Abilities listed in General Requirements of Team Members

  • Bachelors degree in engineering (ME, IE or EE)

  • 7 to 15 years minimum experience in manufacturing and materials management is required  Licenses, Certifications, etc.:

  • Experienced and certified Black-Belt, Green-Belt or Lean Expert, or able to achieve certification within 18 months
